Dr. Irene Barberis

 

Irene Barberis is an Artist, the Founding Director of Metasenta® and its projects, and Co-Director of the contemporary Australian Gallery, Langford 120. Her PhD was titled 'The Figurative and Abstract Elements of the Apocalypse and its Representations" (2000). She has participated and initiated multiple international arts projects, collaborating with artists, arts organisations and institutions in Australia, UK, USA, the Middle East and the Far - East, curating significant exhibitions around the globe. She exhibits and publishes widely, also directing Metasenta Publications, an international publishing initiative for artists, architects, poets and designers. As a painter, installation and new media artist, she has held over sixty solo exhibitions in Australia and abroad, and participated in over ninety group exhibitions. Her works and public art are held in multiple collections in Australia and internationally.
